Gulf Coast Events This Week

This week there’s a variety of events designed to entertain and engage residents and visitors alike. From classic films and trivia nights to community potlucks, live music, painting parties, a seafood festival, and a brunch experience acclaimed by local food enthusiasts, the schedule is packed with opportunities to explore the cultural and culinary delights of the area. 


Each day presents a unique activity, promising enjoyment for all ages and interests. Highlights include a special matinée movie showing at OWA Theater, Jeopardy night at the Hangout Gulf Shores, a family-style potluck at Flora-Bama, musical performances at Island Time Daiquiris, a creative paint party at Buzz Catz Coffee & Sweets, the 32nd Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival and Car Show, and a celebrated brunch at Bleu's Burger.


Monday, February 19th-
For the month of February only OWA theater presents $10 Monday Matinée Movies. The films take viewers back to a simpler time and place. Featuring classics all from the 1960s such as “the suspenseful romance of” ‘Charade’ (1963)  starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Escape the Monday blues and sit back to enjoy an affordable afternoon matinée on a big screen. Delight the taste buds with warm buttery popcorn snacks, sugary bites and more at the concessions or dine in at one of downtown OWA’s many restaurant onsite locations. Tuesday, February 20th -
Get ready for one of America’s favorite game shows at the Hangout Gulf Shores, the legendary Jeopardy. It’s the family-friendly trivia game known for its twist that reverses the traditional question and answer format. A most exciting brain-teaser that will have everyone in the family asking for another three rounds. Bring a friend and form your teams for one exciting night of competition and fun. The games begin at 5 PM and buzz right through to 7 PM. So plan to stay for dinner and then enjoy a spin under the moonlight on the outdoor dance floor where 59 ends and the fun begins.

Wednesday, February 21st-
There are two more opportunities this month to experience a family style Flora-Bama potluck gathering. Join the Bamily and friends for ‘Welcome Wednesday’s.’ The tent will open for this two-hour event at 11 AM with food served at Noon.  All participants are asked to bring a covered side dish or dessert. The main course is provided. Get ready to meet your neighbors, visitors and reminisce with old friends for good food, live music, raffle prizes and more. A place on the line where all are welcomed, come as you are with a side dish southern fascination destination.

Thursday, February 22nd-
It’s time to get down with the island time at Island Time Daiquiris at the Wharf. Not only are cold refreshing beverages served daily, this beach town dive bar offers some exceptional local musical talent. Rather you like to sip your fruit under the sun or starlight, Island Time Daiquiri Bar, better known as “Daq Bar” has fresh tunes to suit anyone's timeline starting at 2 PM Monday–Sunday. First up the Smokey Otis Band duo sharing their decades of talent with patrons until 6 PM. Then a special match up Mason Henderson with Chris Beverly takes to the stage from 8 PM - 12 AM. Come out and enjoy some of the Island's best local artists. It's about that time.

Friday, February 23rd -
Capture the very essence of what it's like to stroll along the sandy shores, hair blowing in the wind while waves crash upon the beach. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but to paint the picture is to live within it. Sarah at Something From Nothing Paint Parties hosted by Buzz Catz Coffee and Sweets will show participants how to paint what she calls “magical girl on the beach” on their very own canvas. Enjoy some home-brewed coffee and a treat from the chef prepared fresh daily baked good selection while being whisked away to the beach with each stroke of the brush. Registration is required and seating is limited. Saturday, February 24th - The Fort Morgan Oyster Fest is back

Whether you like ‘em naked or dressed to impress, Sassy Bass, The Beach Club Resort and Spa, and Navy Cove Oysters will be serving up happiness on a half shell at the Annual Fort Morgan Oyster Fest held the last weekend of February each year. Held at The Beach Club Resort and Spa, join for food, fun, and oyster perfection! Tickets include all-you-can-eat oysters! We’ll be serving up Navy Cove and Admiral oysters several ways including Raw on the Half Shell, Charbroiled, Rockefeller, Garlic Butter, Bearnaise, & “Bacon me crazy”. We are also serving up Oyster Chowder, Oyster Stew and even Oyster Spaghetti so wear your stretchy pants and bring your appetite!

Get ready for a day full of antique hot rods, local hand made art and eats for the 32nd Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival and Car Show at the Wharf. Be exceptional in a big way by taking part in giving back to the community. Each year more than 15,000 feet scuttle down main street for one of the largest fundraising events for the Makos Academics Arts & Athletics Club (MAAAC) which directly benefits Orange Beach City Schools. Not only will patrons get to shop local small businesses to support but also be a part of the island's education and extracurriculars. It's difficult to think of any better way to give back. Sunday, February 25th -
Sunday Brunch is a coastal tradition and with the arrival of spring, it is time to enjoy the ritual again. Bleu's Burger has recently starting serving brunch and is getting great reviews. You can choose from their classic brunch items or select from their legendary burgers. Located across from the Pelican Place theater, Bleu's Burger will add the "sun" to your Sunday Brunch!

The Annual Fort Morgan Oyster Fest is set to take place this weekend, February 22nd & 23rd at The Beach Club Resort & Spa. The event features all-you-can-eat oysters, live music, craft vendors, and various activities for attendees; including a larger kids area. This year's festival features several improvements, including daily ticket caps to control crowds and prevent long lines.

After 15 years of dedicated service, Gulf Shores Police Chief Ed Delmore has announced his retirement. Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

Alabama's 14th annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is set for Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 23, 2025. During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
