Free Fraud Summits To Help Protect Local Residents

State Representative Frances Holk Jones, in partnership with the Better Business Bureau, Alabama Securities Commission, Area Agency on Aging, and AARP Alabama, is hosting a series of free fraud summits aimed at helping residents protect themselves and their loved ones from scams and fraud. The events, scheduled for January 2025, will provide attendees with valuable tips and resources to recognize and avoid fraudulent schemes.


The summits will cover a wide range of topics, including top scams of the past year, government imposters, veteran scams, romance scams, identity theft, investment fraud, cryptocurrency-related fraud (known as "pig butchering"), and Medicare scams. These topics are tailored to educate participants on emerging threats and practical strategies for safeguarding their finances and personal information.

Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.
