gulf shores event news

The Gulf Coast is no stranger to a good time and this week we open with two full days filled with parades, moon-pies, gumbo, rice and everything nice.

Monday, February 12th - Monday’s on the island are for MoonPies on Main. Lundi-Gras is celebrated each year at The Wharf the day before Fat Tuesday with a special just for kids and pets parade line starting at 4PM, followed by their float parade for all starting at 6 PM with the renowned SPECTRA Laser Light Experience immediately following. Kids and Pets get dressed up and stroll down Main street tossing about collective carnival throws. It’s a Lundi-Gras party unlike any other with pony rides, bouncy houses, shops filled with anything you can imagine, even any items you might have left behind and so much more. Plan to arrive early and spend the day soaking up all the four-legged cuddles and little bitties cuteness as you can muster, then enjoy a dine at a number of delicious water view restaurants on site.

A day that doubles this year from “yesterday was for feasting, today is for fasting,” to “sweethearts day wine glasses tapping.” That’s right, it’s Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day. CoastAL’s creative Chef’s have put together a “love is in the air” special menu to commemorate couples' love on this special day of honoring those close to you. The one-day only menu offers three entrées: a Surf and Turf, Crab Wellington, Smoked Pork Chop and for dessert, a delightful triple-layer Red Velvet Cake. Take your sweetie for a walk along the beach after your meal or stay and enjoy live music. However, if one decides to carry their evening on CoastAL Orange Beach is calling the evening a “Romantic Culinary Affair” you won’t want to hold back on. Gulf Shores ‘Winter Concert Series’ features 90’s American alternative rock band, Sister Hazel this week for a two night show run. The all male group formed in Gainesville, Florida, originally just some friends in a college party band, eventually reached stardom with the hit song “All for You” in 1997. The band continues to live up to their fan-based reputation today from their humble beginnings, a name sparked from a local missionary in lead singer Ken Block’s hometown who ran a homeless shelter to themed cruises that allow interactions with the band. Their hype is as fresh as it ever was with their musical palette expanding into genres like country while still remaining solid to the rock alternative side. Tickets are on sale for $27.50 the show starts at 7 PM doors open at 5:30 at the Erie Civic Center. To purchase tickets click the link below. Come out and join the fans new and old for this classic band of brothers performance. A group whose rise and steady life of fame is not only found in the music they bring but also by the friendships they continue to lead.
