Monday, July 8th -
For one week every year the world celebrates their fascination with the extraordinary apex predator, sharks. The Discovery Channel and other networks will roll shark footage and play epic movies for entertainment right along with the education stories of these beasts of burden. However, if your curiosity goes beyond the screen, the Gulf State Park has partnered with Mississippi State University to bring in person sessions that include crafts, a stingray touch tank and daily dissections. Parking is free and the cost for a wristband each day is $3. First up will be presentations starting at 3PM and again at 4PM with all the week-long activities throughout. The big dissection finale will begin at 5PM with widely known for its distinctive striped pattern, the Tiger Shark. One of the world's largest and most potent shark species, growing up to 16 feet long, and weighing up to 1,400 pounds, the Tiger Shark is known for its aggressive behavior and voracious appetite, however, did you know they play an essential role in regulating the populations of their prey species like most sharks and aid in helping to maintain a healthy balance in the ecosystem? Stop by the Gulf State Park this week to learn more each day and don’t forget to tune in for all the exciting shows throughout the week with cable television's longest running series in history, Shark Week.

If looking for a fun and new adventure while visiting the Gulf Coast, take a leap and catch some waves with Orange Beach Parasailing Company, serving up the thrill to islanders and vacationers for over 17 years. Nestled on the Bay side of things next to Pleasure Island Tiki Bar and overlooking the beautiful Robinson and Bird islands, guests can catch a glimpse of local life while boarding to cruise out into the Gulf of Mexico. The experienced Captains and Crew will ride out on one of their two 12 passenger boats to just beyond the shore before elevating those flying high above the waters. Turned just right for a view of the beautiful Orange Beach and Gulf Shores white sandy beaches and beyond while swinging in the salty air. Be sure to ask about their photo packages and hot merch items. And don’t forget to mention your preference on being dipped, dunked or slid right back onto the boat, toes dry and a new story to tell.
