Easter services taking place along the beach

Gulf Shores Easter News

One of the longest traditions in this coastal community are the beachfront services for Good Friday and Easter. What started as a few people gathering at sunrise is now the reason many guest make a pilgrimage to the beach each year.

Good Friday commemorates the death of Jesus on Calvary, the site just outside the walls of Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified. It falls on the Friday before Easter. But there is so much more to this holiday than just these religious rituals. Good Friday is, for many, an intensely personal day of prayer and devotion.

Along the local beaches you will be able to find several worship groups on the sand. The most popular famously takes place at the Flora-Bama beach bar. Many national news outlets have written about the beach services at the bar's church, Worship on the Water. The "Bama" also has the famous Bunny Drop on Saturday for kids and family members. Their Easter Egg Hunt on the beach includes thousands of prize filled eggs hidden in the sand.

There are now other locations along the beach which provide an Easter service. From sunrise service to full-day events there is a Easter celebration to match your taste along the local shores.

The fun continues at 12:00 PM with an exciting Easter Egg Hunt on the beach behind Flora-Bama, where children can search for colorful eggs in the sand. But the highlight of the day? The Easter Bunny will make a grand entrance—by skydiving onto the beach. After the landing, kids will get the chance to meet the Easter Bunny and take photos inside the tent. Families should bring their own Easter baskets and cameras to capture this unforgettable experience.
