The Gulf Coast is geared up for a vibrant celebration of Independence Day, with a host of events scheduled across the region. From lively burger-eating contests and beachside barbecues to patriotic parades and spectacular fireworks displays, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a diverse array of activities. Venues like The Hangout in Gulf Shores, LuLu’s, Flora-Bama Lounge, OWA Parks & Resort, The Wharf in Orange Beach, Perdido Beach Resort, Turquoise Place, The Beach Club, and Gulf State Park Pier are pulling out all the stops to ensure a memorable Fourth of July.

Hangout Gulf Shores

The Hangout in Gulf Shores is hosting Uncle Sam’s Burger Slam on July 4th, 2024, where participants race to devour as many burgers as possible in 10 minutes for a chance to win a $1000 cash prize, sponsored by Happy Dad Hard Seltzer. The event, starting at 12:30, features free admission and participation, with online registration closing on July 2. This centerpiece competition is part of a full day of entertainment, including a Pirates & Princess Breakfast, Family DJ Dance Party, lawn games, scavenger hunt, water gun fight, live music from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., a late-night DJ, confetti drop, bars open all day, hourly foam parties, and a firework watch party. LuLu’s Gulf Shores

For those looking to enjoy some live music this Independence Day Holiday, LuLu's Beach Dance Party will be happening on Wednesday night at the Crazy Sista Stage in Gulf Shores. On Wednesday, July 3rd and Thursday, July 4th the Alvarado Road Show will take the stage. This Nashville-by-way-of-Texas-based country duo, consisting of brothers Cleve and A.J. Clark, has been entertaining audiences with their rootsy American music for over 20 years. Known for their harmonious blend and heartfelt performances, the brothers have become a staple at LuLu's, painting colorful pictures of life, love, and relationships through their songs. Having performed at notable venues like the Grand Ole Opry, they bring a rich history and deep passion for their craft to every show. Flora-Bama Lounge

The Flora-Bama will celebrate the Fourth of July at the Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar with their All American 4th of July Party on Thursday, July 4th, 2024. The event will feature live music, beach activities, and a spectacular fireworks display starting at 9 PM. On Saturday, July 6th, the Flora-Bama will host its annual “Freedom Run”. OWA Parks & Resort:
 

OWA Parks & Resort is set to host a spectacular Fourth of July Weekend Party from July 4th through July 6th. Throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy a variety of planned entertainment alongside OWA’s diverse attractions and amenities. The Wharf Orange Beach

The Wharf in Orange Beach will celebrate Independence Day on July 3rd, with their Independence Day Street Party beginning at 5pm. Fireworks will begin at 8:45pm on July 3rd, followed by the SPECTRA Laser Light Experience. Click here for more information.


Perdido Beach Resort

This event has SOLD OUT. We will host our annual Fireworks Celebration and Barbecue on Thursday, July 4th, in Orange Beach, AL. This annual event includes an all-American beachside barbecue, live music featuring The Mixed Nuts, cash bars, and a star-spangled firework show from the beach. The Mixed Nuts are a New Orleans-based band that has played for numerous Mardi Gras events, including the Krewe of Orpheus Ball, Journey, Kid Rock, The Temptations, and The Doobie Brothers, along with many other top groups from around the country. Turquoise Place - Orange Beach:

Celebrate Independence Day at Turquoise Place with a blend of red-hot fun, white-sand beaches, and clear-blue waters. From July 1 to July 4, enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including live music, outdoor games, glitter tattoos, frozen treats, and craft rooms. Highlights include a belly flop contest, hula-hoop bubble party, foam party, and cannonball contest. Special events feature the Wounded Warriors boat race, a sandcastle building session, and a patriotic fashion contest. Each day culminates in live music, poolside karaoke, and spectacular surprises, all leading up to the grand fireworks display on July 4 at 9 PM. The Beach Club - Fort Morgan:

Pack your best patriotic gear and head to The Beach Club for a Fourth of July to remember, where red-hot fun, white-sand beaches, and clear-blue water await. Treat your family to the ultimate vacation at The Beach Club Resort & Spa, featuring an incredible fireworks display on July 4 at 9 PM, as well as a variety of activities throughout the week, including live music, games, and family fun. Don’t miss the exclusive VIP Pool Party at The Clubhouse from 7-10 PM on July 4th, where, for $40 per person, guests can enjoy music by The Velcro Pygmies, a foam pit, face painting, a photo booth, and a patriotic costume contest. Gulf Shores/Gulf State Park Pier:

The City of Gulf Shores will host its annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration on Thursday, July 4. The fireworks show will start at 9pm and will be launched from the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier. This event is free and open to the public. The Hangout will be hosting a watch party with live music, food and fun. Lake Shelby or the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion are available for additional parking.

The Annual Fort Morgan Oyster Fest is set to take place this weekend, February 22nd & 23rd at The Beach Club Resort & Spa. The event features all-you-can-eat oysters, live music, craft vendors, and various activities for attendees; including a larger kids area. This year's festival features several improvements, including daily ticket caps to control crowds and prevent long lines.

After 15 years of dedicated service, Gulf Shores Police Chief Ed Delmore has announced his retirement. Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

Alabama's 14th annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is set for Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 23, 2025. During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
