Gulf Shores Sporting News

The Gulf Shores High School Varsity Baseball Team have earned the Area Championship 4 years in a row. They are undefeated in region play and currently 23-8 overall. The Dolphins are also ranked in the Top 25 teams of Alabama, amongst all divisions.

Gulf Shores batting has been a team effort with a several hitting .300 or better. Seniors, Connor Gehr and Joseph Stephens set the standard with both batting in the .450 range and and over 40 RBIs between them. Sophomore Jacob Obryan has an average of 0.379 with 13 RBIs and Alex King is batting over .300 with 10 runs batted in. The entire team is contributing behind the bat.

Another impressive stat is that Jackson Beck and two others all have more that 10 stolen bases a piece. In fact, fifteen players on the team have stolen at least one base this season.

The Dolphins have also shared the wealth on the mound but in it's most recent game against Elberta, Connor Gehr made his dominance known in pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Brazil, Rippy, Stephens, Anderson and others have shown their pitching skills; combining for 173 strikeouts on the season.
