The City of Gulf Shores got some good news today. Cindy King, Director of Finance and Administration, informed the council of amending the City's budget due to an estimated increase in general funds of $10,555,156. The majority of the extra revenue came from sales and lodging taxes.
There were also some changes to the anticipated expenses for 2023. Even after increased health insurance expenses and a debt service paydown there is an increase of $145,137 to the General Fund. The overall reserve to the fund is estimated to be at $2,978,681 for the year.
Cindy King advised the City Council that there would be a transfer from the Lodging Tax 2% Beach fund to the Storm Damage funds to assist with the beach restoration cost.
The final vote for this finance changes will be conducted at the next City Council meeting on November 27th.
