The Gulfarium CARE Center will be releasing several rehabilitated sea turtles back into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, May 15th, at Perdido Key Public Beach Access #4. The event will begin at 11am and is expected to last about 10–15 minutes, weather permitting. In the case of inclement weather, such as storms or lightning, the release will be rescheduled.
The Gulfarium CARE Center, part of the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sea turtles. This upcoming event is part of their ongoing efforts to conserve and protect marine life. Earlier in the year, the center celebrated its first release of the season with two sea turtles at Inlet Beach.
A recent release included turtles named "Dakota," who overcame severe anemia and flipper injuries, and "Lorna," who was treated for multiple fishing hook injuries.
Community members and visitors are encouraged to attend and witness the return of these sea turtles back into their natural habitat. The event not only marks a triumph for the individual turtles but also underscores the importance of ongoing conservation initiatives.
