Mardi Gras parade schedules on the beach

It’s time to let the good times roll on the Alabama Gulf Coast with the 2023 Mardi Gras season culminating on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21, with parades in Gulf Shores at 10 a.m., Orange Beach at 2 p.m. and LuLu’s Anniversary and boat parade at 10 a.m.


Perhaps the most interactive event on the schedule is Moon Pies on Main Street at The Wharf beginning at 4 p.m. on Feb. 20. It kicks off with a kids and pet parade and then at 6 p.m. the float parade will roll. A Spectra Laser Light Show will cap off the evening’s festivities after the last float passes down Main Street. Parking and admission are free but some of the kids’ activities will cost $5.

Feb. 4


  • Pirates of the Lost Treasure Old River Flotilla, leave Holiday Harbor Marina at 11 a.m.


  • Elberta Mardi Gras Parade, 2 p.m.


Feb. 10


  • Apollo’s Mystic Ladies, Daphne, 6:45 p.m.


Feb. 11


  • Krewe du Kidz Walking Parade at OWA Parks & Resort, 2:30 p.m., register here


  • Mutts of Revelry Dog Parade, Fairhope, 3 p.m.


  • Knights of Ecor Rouge, Fairhope, 6:30 p.m.


Feb. 18


  • Foley Mardi Gras Parade, 11 a.m.


  • Krewe of Mullet Mates, Mullet Point, 2 p.m.


  • Mystical Order of Mirams, Orange Beach, 5:30 p.m.


  • Mystics of Pleasure, Orange Beach, 6 p.m.


  • Shadow Barons, Daphne, 6:45 p.m.

     

Feb. 19


  • Fort Morgan Mardi Gras Parade, 1 p.m.


  • Loyal Order of the Firetruck, Daphne, 2:30 p.m.


Feb. 20


  • Moon Pies on Main Street, kids and dog parade, 4 p.m., float parade, 6 p.m.


  • Order of Mystic Magnolias, Fairhope, 6:45 p.m.


Feb. 21


  • Gulf Shores Mardi Gras Parade, 10 a.m.


  • LuLu’s Anniversary and Boat Parade, 10 a.m.


  • Orange Beach Mardi Gras Parade, 2 p.m.

On April 20th in 2010, local beaches and residents experienced the worst environmental impact to the area in modern history. On this date 15 years ago the Deep Water Horizon oil rig exploded and began releasing millions of gallons into the Gulf, which eventually rode the waves and current to our shores.

The City of Gulf Shores has a goal of making the area more walkable. They have been working towards this and focusing on each area within it's boundaries. The city is planning moves to bring the Laguna Cove project on the south shore of Little Lagoon forward by hiring Goodwyn Mills Cawood to design, arrange permitting and provide construction engineering and inspections on the nature park improvements.
