Former Foley High School and University of Alabama wide receiver standout Julio Jones officially announced he's retiring from the NFL. Jones teased his announcement on Instagram and posted his full video on a different social-media app called Squad.
"I'm making this announcement today because of the city of Atlanta," Jones said in the video. "Thank you, man. I appreciate y'all. It's nothing but love. I'm doing this on 404 day."
Jones was originally drafted out of the University of Alabama by the Falcons in 2011 with the No. 6 overall pick.
Julio Jones was a 7-time Pro Bowler and former standout wide receiver. While playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide he, and the team, accomplished winning a national championship in 2009.

Jones is considered one of the greatest receivers of the 2010s and is a surefire Pro Football Hall of Fame candidate.
Julio Jones, a native of Foley, Alabama, was a standout high school athlete, winning state championships in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump, and earning Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year in Alabama in 2006-07. He also played football, earning All-State selection in 2006 and 2007, and was named Mr. Football in 2007.
His high school football statistics are still talked about amongst locals, Julio caught 68 passes for 1,181 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior at Foley. He caught 51 passes for 805 yards and 8 touchdowns as a sophomore and followed that up with 75 catches for 1,299 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior.
Jones was also accomplished in track and basketball during high school. He still owns the school record in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump.
Julio Jones retires from the NFL with 914 receptions, 13,703 yards and 67 touchdowns.
