The Coast Guard rescued four boaters after their vessel capsized near Dauphin Island, Alabama, on Thursday.
At about 1:50 p.m., Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders received an SOS signal from a satellite communicator. The signal was reported by the Coast Guard National Command Center.
Watchstanders communicated with one of the boaters, who reported that their 28-foot catamaran had capsized. All four people were in the water without personal flotation devices.
A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew was diverted to the scene. Additionally, a Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew was launched to assist.
Three Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrews, already airborne for training, also diverted to help. One of the Dolphin aircrews hoisted all four boaters aboard and took them to Aviation Training Center Mobile in Alabama.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
