Iced drinks and desserts have been around since at least 4000 B.C.. But Marco Polo brought the secret of Ice Cream to Italy, Catherine de Medici shared it with France, Thomas Jefferson the brought it to the United State... or so the legend goes. We are just happy to taste it on a hot summer day at the beach.

You can celebrate National Ice Cream Day locally at Yabba's Wacky Snack Shack in either Foley or Gulf Shores. This unique candy store, established in 2012, offers more than just your typical ice cream or sweets.

Yabba's Wacky Snack Shack: A Local Treasure

Yabba's Wacky Snack Shack prides itself on providing "a candy store experience fueled by happiness & humor with a bit of light-hearted rebellion". They offer a wide variety of treats that are perfect for satisfying your ice cream or sweet tooth craving on National Ice Cream Day and beyond. Besides ice cream and sweets, here are a few of the other items in Yabba’s offerings…

Craft Sodas:
One of Yabba's specialties is their extensive selection of craft sodas. From nostalgic favorites to wild flavors like grass, dirt, or butter soda, there's something to surprise and delight every palate. These unique beverages could be a fun alternative or complement to traditional ice cream.

Unique Gifts:
If you're looking for a special way to celebrate National Ice Cream Day, Yabba's offers a range of unique gifts. These could be perfect for the ice cream lover in your life or as a treat for yourself.

Yabba’s whimsical approach to treats aligns perfectly with the spirit of National Ice Cream Day. Here are some ways to celebrate:

  • Try a craft soda float: Combine Yabba's unique sodas with your favorite ice cream for a twist on the classic ice cream float.
  • Create an ice cream gift basket: Use Yabba's unique gifts and treats to assemble a custom ice cream-themed gift basket.
  • Host an ice cream social: Grab some toys and games from Yabba's to entertain guests at an ice cream-themed party.
  • Take a sweet road trip: Visit both Yabba's locations in Foley and Gulf Shores, picking up treats along the way to enjoy with your ice cream.

Remember, National Ice Cream Day is about more than just the frozen treat itself - it's about indulging in life's simple pleasures and creating sweet memories. Whether you're enjoying a scoop of your favorite flavor or exploring the wacky world of treats at Yabba's, make sure to savor every moment of this delicious holiday.

So this weekend, embrace your inner child, let loose, and celebrate National Ice Cream Day with a visit to
Yabba's Wacky Snack Shack. After all, in the words of L.M. Montgomery, "I guess ice cream is one of those things that are beyond imagination".
