New restaurant and warehouse will go to Planning Commission

gulf shores news

On Jan. 9 the Orange Beach Planning Commission will hear a request from developers to build a 7,300 square foot restaurant and a 20,800 warehouse on the north side of Canal Road and west of Cypress Street.

The lot is located in the T’s Shrimping Company planned unit development and the request is from October Investments. The Secretary of State’s office lists the company as having a principal office in Bay Minette, another at Caribe Resort and the registered agent is listed as John Price. Attorney Daniel Blackburn is listed as one of the “members” of the company.

During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:

  • An ordinance change to regulate temporary residential real estate signs on Orange Beach.

  • Approval of the final major subdivision for phase 3A of the Buena Vista RV Resort consisting of 10 lots on the west side of the resort.

  • A request to combine four lots in the Mariner Lakes planned unit development to build two residential buildings with a total of 146 units near the Fairfield Inn. The same developer will have a public hearing and first reading for an ordinance amendment for Mariner Lakes to allow the project.

  • A request from Robertson Commercial to expand the kitchen at the now-closed Oso Early at Canal Road and Wilson Boulevard. Since the expansion is more than 400 square feet city ordinance requires a site plan review.

  • A request from the Orange Beach Store for approval of a site plan review to build a 7,000 square foot retail store at the northwest corner of State Route 161 and beach road.

  • A request to divide lot four of Bickers Acres did not meet the second deadline. This item was also deferred from the December planning commission meeting. KO Investments and Greg Kennedy are seeking to split the lot in two and add residential housing. It is located at 5211 Carleton Lane, a mostly undeveloped city right of way that runs from Canal Road north to Sampson Avenue.

  • A request to rezone 1.8 acres of beachfront from single family residential to planned unit development to build five duplexes on the parcel. The request is from Rodney Jones who owns Hudson Marina with his wife Laurie. The lot is directly east of Turquoise Place.

  • A request for a 12-month extension for the Summer Salt phase 2 subdivision located behind Doc’s Seafood and Steaks on beach road.
