Teachers of award winning students given stipend

Education News in Orange Beach

During the Orange Beach City Council meeting several teachers were awarded a stipend for the academic accomplishments of their students. The Orange Beach School System Board recognized each teacher and staff member whose students placed in the top five in the state in the 2024 ACAP score rankings. Each individual was awarded a $1,500 stipend for this accomplishment.


Orange Beach School Board members include Randy McKinney, Nelson Bauer, Lisa Nix, Shannon Robinson and Robert Stuart.


Recognized teachers in the meeting included Callie Morgan, Liz Dorè, Caitlin Lawrence and Lainey Middleton.


Orange Beach City Schools has climbed near the top of Alabama's academic rankings in less than two years. The Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) results and rankings from the Education Lab highlight the district's progress.

The days of sniffing out crime have come to an end for an nine-year-old K9 cop in Gulf Shores. K9 Darlin retired this week after eight years in service. During her time as a narcotic's detector, she helped sniff out 159 pounds of methamphetamine, 171 pounds of cocaine, 93.5 pounds of marijuana and 5.5 pounds of heroin.
