A boat fire south of Perdido Pass in Orange Beach was swiftly contained today, thanks to the quick actions of the marine division of the Orange Beach Fire Dept. and the OBPD’s marine division. The incident, which could have escalated into a major disaster, was promptly addressed by Orange Beach’s first responders, private boaters who were aware of the situation, and the captain of Zeke's Lady.
The fire broke out on the Cool Change charter boat. The first to arrive on the scene was a private boat and Zeke's Lady. The captain of Zeke's Lady saw smoke and positioned Zeke’s lady close to the situation to provide a safe staging area. Passengers on Cool Change were moved away from harm onto Zeke’s Lady.
OBFD was quick to respond, showing just how quickly they can get to a situation and handle it. Their swift action played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading, doing more damage to the boat.
The photographer, Justin Prine, was aboard Zeke's Lady when he captured the event shown in these photos.
