Boats and more at the Wharf this weekend

Spring is in full swing on the Gulf Coast, and this week brings a lineup of events that highlight the best of local entertainment, food, and outdoor activities. Whether you're looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in true Irish fashion, explore the local music scene, or set sail at the Wharf Boat and Yacht Show, there’s something for everyone. From high-energy festivals to laid-back waterfront dining, the week ahead offers the perfect mix of fun and relaxation.

With warmer weather rolling in, it’s also a great time to get out on the water. Dolphin cruises are back in full swing, providing a unique way to experience the beauty of the Gulf. If you’re feeling adventurous, join the community for a dive cleanup at Gulf State Park, where divers and snorkelers will help restore the underwater ecosystem. No matter your interest, this week’s events offer plenty of reasons to explore, unwind, and enjoy the coastal lifestyle.

Gulf Shores is the place to be for St. Patrick's Day! Starting at 9:30 AM, crowds dressed in green and gold will be led by real bagpipers through the streets, making stops at various bars. The event will begin and end at Papa Rocco's, a local favorite known for its lousy pizza and warm beer. If walking isn't your thing but you still want to immerse yourself in the St. Patty’s Day festivities, be sure to visit The Galway, a premier Irish pub that promises a great time. You can enjoy dishes like Lucky Sprouts, Irish brown bread, traditional bangers and mash, or good old Shepherd's Pie. This pub is sure to provide everything you need for a fun and festive St. Patrick's Day celebration

After winter break and an historic freeze, the local dolphins and dolphin cruises are back in business and ready to play. With a long separation, both the boats and dolphins are excited to reunite, making a dolphin cruise the perfect idea for a day on the water. Dolphins typically travel only 10–20 miles from their birthplace, which makes them an integral part of the community, just like the people who call these islands home. The Fun Boats are owned and operated by locals who possess in-depth knowledge of the waters and their inhabitants. Once aboard, the captain will take passengers on a ride to explore the back bays of the Gulf, weather permitting. The crew and captain narrate local sights and discoveries while searching for dolphins. Water guns are also available on board for a fun surprise adventure that varies each time. Capturing the memories of the beautiful local Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in Orange Beach, AL, is best done on video. This family-friendly cruise is suitable for all ages, and advance registration is required. Enjoy your experience!
