The summer season is kicking into high gear on the Alabama Gulf Coast this week. There’s a range of events that both locals and vacationers will enjoy.
From Memorial Day through the beginning of June this week has it all. Whether you’re looking for food, fun, or adventure, the Gulf Coast has something to offer everyone. Here’s our rundown for this week.
Monday, May 27th - CoastAL beachfront restaurant plus more invites locals and visitors alike to celebrate Memorial Day with a bang. Enjoy the freedom of the open salty air, while taking in a most incredible view of the Gulf of Mexico, and the musical styling of Tyler Ward, rocking various genres including 70s and 80s, Soul, and Motown from 1-5PM. Next up, prepare for an explosive performance by Trevor Finaly guaranteeing an electrifying performance by skillfully combining genres as well including a nod to rap. Tuesday, May 28th - Experience the flavors of a unique coastal southern blend of Cajun and creole at OSO located at Bear Point Harbor. With menu items featuring gumbo, fish tacos, and seared tuna, there's something to tempt everyone's taste buds. Bring the family and sit back and enjoy a water view while letting the kids join in for a one-day only hello to summer party on the lawn designed just for them. The OSO team will have games, water slides, snow cones, between the bun snacks and more. Come prepared to wet or just wear your suits and get lost in the suds with a locally owned kid favorite, the Foam Truck. Word is there will be a dunk tank for extra good times and laughs all around. Wednesday, May 29th - A new pirate initiative is coming to a Wharf near you. Gone are the days of island treasures lost and taken. Now islanders have the opportunity to go on a Hunt for Hunger. The event benefits ‘Secret Meals for Hungry Children.’ Every Wednesday throughout the Summer, drop by the Pepsi tent at the Wharf to snag your treasure map and begin your quest. Pirates are encouraged to stay the course and find all the items on the map and return to the starting point to collect their gold. For the first 500 completed hunts, the Wharf will donate $5 to the Alabama Credit Union’s SMHC foundation. Don’t forget the epic jams nightly from DJ Matt and the free SPECTRA Laser Light Experience each night from 6 to 9 PM and on Wednesdays a special featuring Philippe ‘Stinky’ Lafitte’s gold heist on the Gulf Coast. Enjoy a bounty of shop selections scattered along the through the Wharf’s main street as well as delightful dine in or to go eateries and take a ride on the 112-foot tall Ferris Wheel for a full day of treasures, memories and intrigue. Thursday, May 30th - Nothing says summer like the warmth of the big bright yellow sunshine unless maybe it’s the big bright yellow double-decker dolphin cruise and eco touring boat, the Sunny Lady. A go-to destination for locals and island visitors looking to have a fresh and exciting start to a summer of adventure. The Sunny Lady is family owned and operated dating back to the 60s showing a true turn of the ages tour standing the test of time. Friday, May 31st - Doc's Seafood & Steaks on Perdido Beach Blvd, renowned for its famous fried shrimp and premium certified Angus steaks, hosts Mel Knapp from 5 to 9pm. Mel Knapp, a versatile musician, is known for his engaging live performances featuring a blend of rock, blues, and acoustic music. Every Friday evening through the summer, Knapp will be performing "Live on the Lawn" from 5 to 9pm, providing an evening of live music to complement the restaurant's diverse menu of seafood and steak dishes.
