Want to save money on school clothes and have a chance to win Taylor Swift Tickets!  Tanger Outlets in Foley invites shoppers to kick off the start of the school season in style with its Back-to-School Era Event on Saturday, July 20 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., which also coincides with Alabama’s Tax-Free Holiday, July 19 – July 21. While shopping the latest looks and best deals from top brands including Nike, Crocs, J.Crew, H&M and Gap, families can celebrate with an array of fun-filled activities, games and giveaways. Mix 99.9 will be on-site to giveaway a pair of Taylor Swift tickets for her New Orleans show. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The winner will be announced at 5:30 p.m., and they must be present to win. ​

The event features all-you-can-eat oysters, live music, craft vendors, and various activities for attendees; including a larger kids area. After 15 years of dedicated service, Gulf Shores Police Chief Ed Delmore has announced his retirement. Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
