Product Recall Affects Foods From Walmart, Amazon, and More

News in Gulf Shores

If you have bought prepared meals from the "Marketside" brand at Walmart this notice from the USDA may be of interest. Hundreds of products sold at Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Walmart, and more are now included in the BrucePac meat and poultry recall for potential Listeria contamination, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.

Only 75 meat and chicken products were initially included in the recall, but on Sunday, FSIS released a 342-page report listing hundreds of recalled products, such as Trader Joe's Lemon Chicken and Arugula Salad and Kroger Caesar Salad With Chicken. Most of the affected products are salads, wraps, and frozen meals with ready-to-eat chicken.

On October 9, FSIS first announced that BrucePac, a ready-made meat producer, voluntarily recalled 9,986,245 pounds of their ready-to-eat proteins. FSIS updated the release on Wednesday to note the addition of 1,779,040 pounds of product subject to recall—increasing the total recalled amount to 11,765,285 pounds of meat.

Locally, Walmart has reached out to customers whom they could contact and asked that the product be returned to the store for a full refund.

The expanded list of Marketside products at Walmart include:

Marketside

  • Marketside Southwest Style Salad With Chicken
  • Marketside Santa Fe Style Salad With Chicken
  • Marketside Caesar Salad With Chicken
  • Marketside Cobb Salad With Turkey and Bacon
  • Marketside Mediterranean Style Kale Pasta Salad With Chicken

FSIS advises consumers to check their fridges and freezers and throw out any recalled products or return them to where they were purchased.

A complete list of affected products and additional information is available on the FSIS website. Here are the products from the major brands included in the recall.
