The council has many items on this week's agenda that are associated with the new high school. Gulf Shores is looking to extend Volkert’s construction management contract for nine months on the new high school at a cost of about $470,000 to the project and Volkert is being paid a total of $4.8 million.
The council will meet on March 3 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.
In a memo to the council, Public Works Director Noel Hand the extension is needed to “accommodate the duration of the high school construction project.”
Other items on the new high school to be discussed at the meeting include awarding a contract to Sherer Consulting for commissioning services and controls system for the HVAC unit at the new high school for $356,000. A second item is about awarding a security system for the high school building or $475,380.
