An altercation occurred in the early hours of January 1, 2024, a 42-year-old woman was arrested in Gulf Shores after reportedly shooting her husband in a domestic dispute. The altercation occurred at Crystal Towers Condo, located at 1010 West Beach Blvd.

At approximately 12:04 A.M., Gulf Shores officers responded to a report of a male victim with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they discovered a 39-year-old man on the 7th-floor walkway, suffering from a gunshot injury to his foot. The injured, identified as John William Savage of Covington, GA, was promptly transported to the South Baldwin Freestanding Emergency Department. Reports confirm his injury was non-life-threatening.

Officers then made contact with the other occupants inside the condo where the incident occurred. The condo was reportedly the vacation residence of the Savage family. Through witness interviews and a thorough investigation, authorities deduced that a verbal argument among family members had escalated into physical violence. During this heated confrontation, Marianne Hough Savage, the wife of the injured male, allegedly armed herself with a pistol and fired a shot, striking her husband.

Marianne Hough Savage has been arrested and charged with Domestic Violence - Second Degree. Additionally, John William Savage faces charges of two counts of Domestic Violence - Third Degree. Both individuals are residents of Covington, Georgia.

The Gulf Shores Police Department has indicated that this is an ongoing investigation. They have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting or the specific nature of the altercation.
