Join the 36th Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup on September 16th

The Alabama Coastal Cleanup is back for its 36th year, and it's calling on residents and visitors alike to make a difference. Scheduled for September 16, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., this event is an opportunity for individuals and organizations to "get the trash out of the splash" and contribute to the beautification of Alabama's coasts and waterways.

Why Participate?

Trash, unfortunately, finds its way from neighborhoods, parks, streets, and storm drains to the bay and the Gulf, causing pollution. By participating in the cleanup, not only do you benefit the environment, but you also contribute positively to your community and the Gulf. Over the years, more than 108,000 volunteers have joined hands in this initiative, removing over 875 tons of marine debris from various coastal areas.

Locations to Volunteer:

Orange Beach:

Gulf Shores:

Fort Morgan:

Foley/Elberta:

Josephine:

Perdido Beach:

Weeks Bay:

Lillian:

Safety First:

While the aim is to clean up, safety remains paramount. Volunteers are advised to drink plenty of fluids, wear sunscreen, and be cautious near fragile ecosystems. Children should always be supervised, and heavy objects should not be lifted without assistance.

A Global Effort:

The Alabama Coastal Cleanup is a part of the International Coastal Cleanup, a global effort to rid coastal waters of marine debris. The event is coordinated by the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources State Lands Division and the Alabama People Against A Littered State (PALS).

Get Involved:

If you're interested in participating, you can contact the Zone Captain of your preferred area. All volunteers will be provided with cleanup supplies, and there's a limited number of t-shirts, scout badges, and window decals available on a first-come, first-served basis.
