OWA Island Gears Up for Foley Sister Cities' Inaugural Oktoberfest Run

Foley Oktoberfest

In a bid to foster international relations and celebrate cultural diversity, the Foley Sister Cities Commission is set to host its first-ever Oktoberfest 5K Run at OWA on October 7, 2023. The event, which will kick off at 8:00 am on OWA’s Island, is backed by notable sponsors including Ascend Performance Materials, Riviera Utilities, Riverview Turf, and WAS Design.

Runners are encouraged to embrace the festive spirit by donning traditional German Oktoberfest attire, such as dreidels and lederhosen. Not just a visual treat, the best-dressed participants stand a chance to win special awards.

All participants will be entitled to an official event t-shirt and real-time race results. Medals await the top three finishers across various age categories, as well as the top three overall champions. Those keen on joining can avail of early bird discounts by registering online before October 1. Post-race, participants and spectators can indulge in an array of activities including music, beer, pretzels, and bratwurst.

The event also serves as a platform to support the sister cities initiatives, particularly in raising funds for student travel. Generous sponsors will receive recognition across various platforms including race shirts, press releases, the Foley Sister Cities website, social media, event signage, and other promotional materials.

The Foley Sister Cities Commission, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to nurturing global relationships through international leadership, friendship, and understanding. Their mission is to facilitate partnerships and citizen diplomacy across cultural, educational, and commercial sectors. The commission also offers opportunities for student and community delegations, as well as educational, cultural, informational, and commerce exchanges.
