Andy Andrews To Speak At Lower Alabama Young Professionals

New York Times Bestselling Author, Andy Andrews, is set to speak at The Lodge in Gulf Shores on Aug. 15th as part of the Chamber's Professional Development Series. The event, organized by the Lower Alabama Young Professionals (LAYP) and sponsored by Gulf Group at EXP Realty & The Lodge at Gulf State Park is open to the public and part of a development series for local professionals of any category.


Open to all ages, the Professional Development Series is an event the LAYP group started in 2021. The event involves bringing in a guest speaker who is an expert in their field and speaking on a chosen topic that would help folks in their career/life. Past topics have included:

  • Personal branding & marketing
  • Business succession plans & estate planning
  • Serving on a board of directors
  • The Do's and Do Not's of Facebook
  • Networking tips


A member of the Young Professional's group stated "Andy brings charisma and energy to all of his speaking engagements, he's spoken at the request of President George H. W. Bush and his teachings and books have been utilized by CEO's, business leaders, and national championship winning football coaches nationwide. Anyone looking to be entertained and inspired is welcome to attend!"


“We are so thrilled that Andy is taking time to speak with us,” said Casey Buckner, Chairman of the LAYP group. “He brings so much energy and charisma to his engagements and I know people are going to walk away inspired.”


Admission to the event is $30 and attendees will also receive a signed copy of an Andy Andrews book, one drink ticket, hors d'oeuvres, and an invitation to a post-event social at The Lodge’s Dragonfly Pool Bar & Grill. The Annual Fort Morgan Oyster Fest is set to take place this weekend, February 22nd & 23rd at The Beach Club Resort & Spa. The event features all-you-can-eat oysters, live music, craft vendors, and various activities for attendees; including a larger kids area. Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
