Businesses Start To Formally Use The Term 'Gulf of America'

Many business have started to use Gulf of America in documents

Gulf of America Used By Business

The term "Gulf of America" may be officially used very soon by businesses and map makers alike. In the first known official document from Wall Street, energy behemoth Chevron referenced the Gulf of America several times in it's official earning release for 2024.

In the past week the maker of the most used maps in the world, Google stated it would change the name of the Gulf once it is officially updated in the U.S. Geographic Names System.

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the name change as part of a flurry of executive actions hours after taking office on Monday, making good on a campaign promise.

A legendary local beach bar has already taken thousands of orders for their new "Gulf of America" shirts. The Flora-Bama announced the new shirts soon after President Trump's proclamation and a business representative said they have been selling non-stop ever since.

The U.S. Department of the Interior stated they are working "expeditiously" to update the official federal nomenclature in the Geographic Names Information System to reflect these changes.

It should be noted that Google has applied the same locale-based labeling conventions to other locations subject to naming disputes. If a search for Persian Gulf when inside the UAE, the name "Arabian Gulf" shows up. When a search for Persian Gulf in Europe, you get "Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf)".

As the Washington Post stated on February 1st, "Yes, really, it’s going to be called the Gulf of America."
