City of Gulf Shores Work Session Is Jan. 2nd, Local Bar May Get New Years Wish

The new year starts for city leadership. The Gulf Shores City Council Work Session meeting, also known as a Committee of the Whole meeting, will be held Tuesday, January 2, at 4 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.


There are several items on the agenda but one local business may get their New Year's wish early. The city's staff has requested Mayor and Council consideration for the issuance of a Conditional Business License for K Golias, dba Mudbugs for 2024. Staff recommends that the Conditional Business License for 2024 be approved with specific conditions.

The council will also review a request for Langston Animal Hospital Site Plan. The company is seeking zoning and site plan approval so they may build a new Veterinary Hospital on Highway 59, just north of the VFW building.

The "Meeting of the Whole" as it is often called, will take place in the in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 1905 West 1st Street. This meeting is open to public attendance. Questions and comments will be taken in person at the meeting.

Event news in the Gulf Shores area

The Foley Music and a Movie event is returning to Heritage Park. The event will include food vendors and free bounce houses for kids. This free community event features a live concert starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 18th at the park pavilion, followed by a movie shown at sunset. Foley residents and visitors will have a chance to stroll through more than a century of local history in April when Foley conducts walking tours of the downtown historic district. Foley is one of more than 20 Alabama communities conducting the tours on each Saturday of the month throughout April.
