In a significant recognition of its contributions to community growth and development, Foley Main Street, a non-profit organization based in Foley, has been officially designated as an Accredited Main Street America program. Main Street America and its partners annually release this distinguished list that acknowledges programs demonstrating an exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization.

Foley Main Street plays an instrumental role in driving downtown Foley's progress. One of their major initiatives includes the implementation of the Envision Plan and earning a place in the Community Growth Accelerator program. These efforts have enabled them to delineate the economic impacts of pivotal downtown properties.

A noteworthy endeavor by the organization is the transformation of Cat Alley, an erstwhile alleyway, into an engaging and visually attractive gathering place for locals and tourists, thereby fostering community spirit.

The organization's success in securing grants and sponsorships amounting to $81,500 has empowered it to kick-start several key initiatives to beautify downtown Foley. These projects have brought life and color to the area through murals, bike racks, and outdoor musical instruments in Pine Street Park.

Serving as a bridge between downtown businesses and the city, Foley Main Street facilitates effective communication and encourages a collaborative environment. Regular visits to downtown businesses allow the organization to build strong relationships and offer customized support, promoting their success.

Chad Watkins, President of Foley Main Street, shared his pride in being part of an organization that pursues high standards of excellence and commits to rigorous annual accreditation.

Acknowledging Foley Main Street's achievement, Hannah White, interim president and CEO of Main Street America, affirmed that groups like it are improving downtown areas nationwide. She expressed her pride in this year's 862 Accredited Main Street America programs for their steadfast dedication to fostering economically and culturally vibrant downtown districts.

This achievement highlights the transformative power of the Main Street movement in addressing local community needs and driving innovation.

Main Street Alabama, in partnership with Main Street America, carries out annual performance evaluations for Foley Main Street, affirming its adherence to rigorous national performance standards.

Foley Main Street, helmed by a dedicated board of directors, is committed to elevating the economic vibrancy of Downtown Foley.
