Foley High School was honored with the School of Excellence award from A+ College Ready and State Superintendent of Education Eric Mackey during the Alabama State Board of Education meeting in Montgomery. This prestigious award highlights the school's exceptional achievements in advanced placement (AP) courses, where students have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. Over the past year, Foley High School achieved a record-breaking 258 qualifying scores in AP exams, marking a significant milestone in the school’s history and underscoring its commitment to academic excellence.
The rigorous exams were given in 15 different course offerings including AP physics, AP calculus and AP literature.
Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich said the award recognizes the outstanding effort made by the students and teachers at Foley High School.
"This is an incredible achievement for Foley High School and reflects the hard work of its students and faculty,” Hellmich said. It shows the value of our city’s partnership with our schools to be the best they can be. Foley High School did a great job."
