Foley Planning Commission Considers New 1,318 Lot Development

During two meetings this month, the Foley Planning Commission will take up items on two large parcels of property and the owners of one are asking for pre-zoning before coming into the city limits. The commission met in a work session on Nov. 6th and will continue reviews on Nov. 13th in a regular session at council chambers.

 

Both of the tracts – one 190 acres and the other 525 acres – are to be part of Cresswind Foley and are located south of Pastoral Lane and east of the Foley Beach Express.

 

The request for the 190 acres includes zoning for a planned unit development and It is currently in the city’s planning jurisdiction.

 

On the larger tract, Cresswind also wants to rezone the 525 to planned unit development and the combined lots would have 1,318 lots. Staff recommends approval on both with conditions.

 

During the meetings, the commission will also hear requests:

 

  • For a one-year extension for Paxton Farms phase two located south of County Road 12 and west of County Road 65. It would contain 60 lots on 16.2 acres is located in the city’s planning jurisdiction. Staff will recommend approval.
  • A request for a one-year extension for Glenlakes phase 4 located west of Clarke Ridge Road and north of County Road 12. Plans for the 49.95-acre project include 116 lots. Staff will recommend approval.
  • To subdivide 15.92 acres located east of State Route 59 and south of the Foley Beach Express into three lots. Staff will recommend approval.
  • For preliminary approval of the Ashlyn Acres subdivision containing 37.25 acres and 11 lots located north of County Road 12 and west of Poser Road in the city planning jurisdiction. Staff will recommend approval.
  • For preliminary approval of the Foley Point phase two located east of County Road 65 and south of Dairy Lane on 13.59 acres with 56 lots. Staff will recommend approval.
  • To approve the Wolf Ridge phase two subdivision on 32.33 acres and 17 lots located east of Clarke Ridge Road and north of County Road 12. Staff will recommend approval.

The days of sniffing out crime have come to an end for an nine-year-old K9 cop in Gulf Shores. K9 Darlin retired this week after eight years in service. During her time as a narcotic's detector, she helped sniff out 159 pounds of methamphetamine, 171 pounds of cocaine, 93.5 pounds of marijuana and 5.5 pounds of heroin.
