News Staff • September 30, 2023

Gulf Shores Defeats Murphy 37-14

The Gulf Shores High School Football team is now 6 -0 for the season and ranked 3rd in State 5A football. Only Ramsay High in Birmingham and Central of Clay County rank higher according to MaxPreps.

While playing Murphy at Ladd-Pebbles in Mobile, the Dolphins jumped out to an early lead by scoring 37 points in the first half. Otto Brewer was a key defensive player helping to pressure the Murphy backfield and hold them scoreless in the first half.

The coaching staff, led by Mark Hudspeth, substituted much of the team during the second half, allowing future starters to get more game-speed experience. Gulf Shores offense was boosted with Kolin Wilson having three touchdowns. Ronnie Royal had a punt return for a touchdown.

The team next takes on Williamson High School at home. The Panthers are 2 - 3 for the year. The last four games will be played in the south Baldwin area with three of them at home in Gulf Shores.

Make sure to catch a game before the season's end. The excitement and athleticism of this team will make you a Dolphin Fan for life!
