Gulf Shores Palooza in the Park Is July 12th

The Gulf Shores Recreation Department will host its first Palooza in the Park on Friday, July 12th. The event is part of the National Parks & Recreation Month celebrations. 


The event is scheduled to take place at Meyer Park in Gulf Shores from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 


Attendees will be entertained with live music by the Smokey Otis Band. The Smokey Otis Band plays a variety of music styles, including classic country, retro rhythm and blues, rock, and soul. They are known for their eclectic performances that cater to a wide range of musical tastes, ensuring a lively and entertaining experience for their audience.


Food will be available from the Beachin' Eats Food Truck. The event also features Kidzapalooza with games, face painting, flower planter craft, and a water balloon toss.

The Annual Fort Morgan Oyster Fest is set to take place this weekend, February 22nd & 23rd at The Beach Club Resort & Spa. The event features all-you-can-eat oysters, live music, craft vendors, and various activities for attendees; including a larger kids area. Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
