Per "Maxpreps" Gulf Shores in 2nd in State for 5A Football

According to MaxPreps, the Gulf Shores High football team is currently ranked 2nd in 5A football for the state. They are ranked first in 5A Region 1 play.

The Gulf Shores Dolphins have begun the season with a 4-0 record, recently defeating rival UMS-Wright. Next they will travel for a conference game at LeFlore High School in Mobile, Alabama.

Dolphins Head Coach, Mark Hudspeth, has the team off to a strong start by defeating three other conference teams which included Faith Academy. During last year's playoffs Faith Academy ended Gulf Shores season with a 20-14 win. The Dolphins returned the favor this season with a 17-0 victory.

Against UMS-Wright, running back Ronnie Royal had ground-pounding drives. Quarterback Jud Harris also utilized the Dolphin's other back by passing to Kolin Wilson.  Braden Jackson leads the team in receiving yards.

The best part about the this year's Dolphins could be their linemen on both sides of the ball. During the UMS game the "O-Line" protected Harris and opened running lanes. While the "D-Line" shut out the UMS offense.

This Friday the team will be visiting the (1-3) LeFlore Rattlers in conference play. The game is in Mobile and kicks off at 7PM.
