127-Acre Coastal Gateway Park Plan to be unveiled by Gulf Shores

The City of Gulf Shores, Alabama, has announced a public gathering to unveil the new master plan for the Coastal Gateway Community Park in North Gulf Shores. The event is scheduled for Monday, September 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Erie Meyer Civic Center.

The master plan for the park has been in development since last year when the city began collaborating with Dix.Hite + Partners. The 127-acre city-owned property, located on Coastal Gateway Boulevard (County Road 8), is aimed at expanding accessibility to city-provided services and amenities in North Gulf Shores.

Everyone is invited to join and learn about the Coastal Gateway Community Park unveiling.

"Our community has seen substantial growth north of the Intracoastal Waterway over the last ten years, and our City Council recognizes how important it is that we provide accessible city services and amenities to all residents," said Recreation and Cultural Affairs Director Grant Brown. "The unveiling of the master plan is another exciting step forward in enhancing residents' overall quality of life."

The new master plan outlines a phased development strategy that includes:

  • Coastal Gateway Community Park: A central feature of the plan, offering a wide range of passive and active recreational amenities.
  • North/South Connector Road: An infrastructure improvement designed to enhance connectivity.
  • Future Elementary School Site: Identifying a location for a future elementary school to support the growing community.
  • Utility Enhancements: Upgrades to essential utilities for improved service.
  • Public Safety Facilities: A new fire station and police presence to ensure continued safety and well-being of the community.

Prior to initiating the master planning process, the City of Gulf Shores conducted a public involvement meeting to solicit opinions from residents regarding the amenities and services they desired to be included.

"The input we gathered from residents was a critical piece in developing the master plan. We can't wait to show them their input and vision come to life when we unveil the master plan," said Brown.

Following the unveiling event, the master plan will be accessible for viewing on the official City of Gulf Shores website at
