As the Gulf Coast heats up this week, a variety of events and activities promise to keep you entertained. Monday, June 17th - 
“Shh be quiet, tonight is the night that we ride,” or fly imagine being a bird of prey categorized in the wild world of ravishing raptors all while never making a peep or even a familiar hoot. Most people know owls come out at night and that they all make a similar hooting sound. But did you know that these nocturnal owls are “formidable, silent hunters?” They have specialized feathers that endow them with the ability to fly with exceptional quietness, allowing them to sneak up on their prey undetected. The Gulf State Park Nature Center homes several birds of prey hopeful to reintroduced into the wild, but sometimes that’s not possible, and those selected feathers are now the ambassadors of their kind on the island and leaders in the centers engaging program where guests will have an opportunity to meet and learn more about these silent birds of prey or raptors and find out more about what makes them so radical with “Radical Raptors” of the Gulf State Park at 2PM with educational fun for all ages to register in advance for this free event, please click the link below.

Wednesday, June 19th - 
It’s time to get groovy at LuLu’s for their Summer Jam Series Beach Party throw down. This week’s theme features the Platinum Premier Band, a group of talented musicians just enjoying each other's company while working and playing together with sounds like Motown, Jazz, Blues, Pop and More. The compatibility and energy this band brings to the stage will hype anyone, young or old up and onto their feet. Guests will feel like they are at a paid concert big stage event all thanks to Lucy and her “iconic waterfront destination” plus the recent unveiling of some new state of the art sound bearings. It’s going to get loud and wild at Lulu’s with the fun, food and music for this event starting at 6 and jamming through to 10 PM. The Beach parties will be an ongoing Summer event on Wednesday nights. In addition, Lulu’s will continue having live music nightly. Prepare to be captivated by the infectious energy of Swamp Water Symphony, an American roots band that’s breaking the mold of traditional bluegrass. These Mobile, AL natives bring a powerful performance and electrifying stage presence, led by sisters Amanda Donald and Katrina Kolb alongside Kelley McKee and Tyler Wilson, that will take you on a foot-stomping musical ride, leaving you breathless and asking for more. Join the band and others from 6PM-10PM for an outdoor performance at Big Beach Brewing Company and take in the sounds with a breeze and beverage from the tap. The Brewery offers a wide variety of local and other brews on tap plus a select wine menu also on tap to keep the wet the whistles while you work up a thirst from dancing and grooving with Swamp Water Symphony.

Sunday, June 23rd - 
If you missed Father’s Day last week at CoastAL Orange Beach, not to worry the sun is still out, the grills are hot and so is the entertainment. Setting it off brunch style at 1PM is Ms. Kat Deal, inspired by legends like Dolly Parton and Joni Mitchell at just 24 years old, is working the stages with her guitar as a full-time musician. The Annual Fort Morgan Oyster Fest is set to take place this weekend, February 22nd & 23rd at The Beach Club Resort & Spa. The event features all-you-can-eat oysters, live music, craft vendors, and various activities for attendees; including a larger kids area. This year's festival features several improvements, including daily ticket caps to control crowds and prevent long lines.

After 15 years of dedicated service, Gulf Shores Police Chief Ed Delmore has announced his retirement. Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

Alabama's 14th annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is set for Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 23, 2025. During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
