Hands-On Fishing Experience for Kids at Gulf State Park

Hands-On Fishing Experience for Kids at Gulf State Park

A free surf fishing clinic for children is set to take place at the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion this weekend. This learning-oriented event, scheduled for Saturday, June 10 from 8 a.m. until noon, is specially designed for children aged six and above. Gulf State Park, located in Gulf Shores, will be the host of this educational clinic.

The clinic aims to provide children with hands-on experience and knowledge about surf fishing. The youngsters attending the clinic will receive fishing tips from some of the Alabama Coast's most experienced local surf fishers. Bait and a limited number of fishing poles will be made available to participants.

In addition to the fishing experience, children will have the opportunity to explore a maritime resources boat, which will be on display at the event. This inclusion is meant to further enhance the educational aspect of the clinic.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has designated
June 10 as this year's free fishing day, providing a perfect opportunity for kids to get involved in the sport without any fees. Families who are interested in participating in the clinic must register by June 8 by emailing gulfevents.statepark@dcnr.alabama.gov. Families who participated in last year's event reportedly enjoyed the experience.

The event is part of Gulf State Park's efforts to promote outdoor activities and educate the younger generation about the local environment and maritime resources. The park frequently hosts similar events in line with its mission to foster a love for nature and outdoor activities among community members, particularly the youth.
