Can you start your day without a cup of coffee, java or joe? If you do it on a regular basis a new medical study states that it could be healthy. So how many do they suggest is just the right amount?
A recent study, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, stated that moderate consumption of caffeine from coffee can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Now you can tell that to those people who complain about your long coffee break or your trip to Happy Pappy in Gulf Shores.

A Doctor of the American Medical Association added “Coffee and tea are true feel-good stories in nutrition—we like them, and they like us back,” said Dr. Devries. “Most of the benefits are noted with intake in the range of 2–5 cups per day,” he added, noting “the source of the benefits, beyond caffeine, are a wide range of biologically active polyphenols—chemicals with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.”
In the same medical journal another Doctor stated coffee could help with depression. “In low doses, caffeine may help depression,” said Dr. Clark. The reason is because caffeine “stimulates dopamine, which is a chemical in your brain that plays a role in pleasure motivation and learning.” Low levels of dopamine can make you feel tired, moody and unmotivated, among other symptoms, she said. But “having more dopamine helps patients with depression by improving their mood.”
