The Wharf is setting up for an Independence Day Street party and is calling all Stars and Stripes to join in the holiday fun. The evening’s events will start at 5 PM with a complete list of fun activities to join in. There will be $10 face painting and camel rides, the traveling bubble truck, bounce houses, a Pirate revenge ride, a four-part rock wall, stilt walkers, and special guests like the reptile bus, with appearances by Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam. The night will top off with a juiced-up for the fourth firework show at 9 PM and end with the Spectra light show. Before spending the evening with family and friends celebrating Independence Day, shed some blueberry cake for the 8th Annual Shark Run starting at 7 AM. Even if you don't join competitors in the fun run will be worth the early morning rise for viewing. Next up, choose a firework destination and plan to leave early on this busy holiday weekend. Orange Beach and Gulf Shores offer four firework shows and some can be seen from the beach and beach restaurants. If you want sand, fireworks, music, food, and more, you’ll want to head on down to Flora-Bama where they’ve planned an entire day of Fourth of July fun for everyone’s amusement. Spend the whole day or come early and find your spot to watch their firework show starting at 9 PM. Firework places are times and more information on Flora-Bama events are below.

Thursday, July 6th - It’s a week that’s become a tradition to locals and visitors alike, Red, White, and Blues Week featuring the Pensacola Beach Air Show. In the early morning hours, beach-goers will begin pulling up and unloading their packed cars filled with tents, chairs, coolers, and umbrellas but not for a typical day at the beach. Thursday through Saturday, Pensacola Beach and surrounding waters will be piled in with people coming from all over the coast for a chance to see the acclaimed flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels. Thursday will mark the start that includes a massive amount of public attendees making way for thousands to view a full practice show over Pensacola Beach at 2 PM. Pack for the day with plenty of snacks, drinks, and sunscreen, and head out early to lessen traffic times and secure a spot. Make sure to bring a camera or fully charged phone. The original Ron Jon Surf Shop opened in 1961 in Ship Bottom, New Jersey and has now spread to Florida, South Carolina, Maryland, and Alabama. The shop is located on Perdido Beach Blvd on the west side of Orange Beach. The dream didn’t start with a store in mind, rather with Ron’s love and discovery of surfing on fiberglass boards. He quickly took the advice of his father and what started as a personal passion is now a 13-store nationwide phenomenon. Custom boards are lined up around the store as well as stylish yet active surf and beach gear. Stop by and ignite the surfer in you while taking advantage of this iconic lifestyle. You just might decide to make it a part of your lifestyle too and go for the board you’ve always dreamed of.
