Lottery tickets are available just across the state line

Gulf Shores Lottery News

Lottery fever is high on the Alabama gulf coast. For the sixth time in less than six years, the Mega Millions® jackpot has topped $1 billion! After 30 drawings without a jackpot win, the big prize is currently estimated at $1.1 billion ($525.8 million cash) for the next drawing on Tuesday, March 26. The jackpot continues to roll after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night. If the jackpot is won on Tuesday, it would be the fifth largest prize in the history of the game.

So will you get tickets for this size jackpot? What about the Powerball jackpot reaching $800 million in the same week? The drawing for Powerball is scheduled for Monday. With Powerball tickets sold at $2 per play in 45 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, the odds of winning the game’s jackpot are 1 in 292.9m.

So do you drive the few miles to the Flora-Bama line and get tickets? Many do since the State of Alabama has yet to approve the lottery. Bruce Barrios of Flora-Bama Liquor and Lotto said they are ready for the increased traffic this week.

Which state has the most lottery jackpot winners? According to the NY Post, it is New York. You can view all the states that report their findings below, but Alabama is one of the three who do not report any information from taxes received from winners visiting other states to purchase.
