Orange Beach Launches Borrow-n-Return Life Jackets

Life jacket loaner systems have been around for decades and are becoming popular around Alabama beaches

For almost two decades, Sea Tow has providing life jacket loaner system around the country. With more than 750 Life Jacket Loaner Stations already located throughout the United States, the foundation is assisting local swimmers at Alabama Point in Orange Beach.


Orange Beach Fire Rescue has announced a new Life Jacket Loaner Station at Alabama Point East. Funded by the Sea Tow Foundation, this station offers free life jackets for residents and visitors of Orange Beach.


The life jackets are available in sizes from infant to Adult XL. They are intended for swimmers, boaters, and all water users to prevent drowning and ensure safety.


Fire Chief Jeff Smith expressed excitement about the partnership with the Sea Tow Foundation. He emphasized that having properly fitting life jackets will help keep people safe while they enjoy the Gulf waters.


Gail R. Kulp, Executive Director of the Sea Tow Foundation, stated that the new station will save lives. She highlighted the importance of increasing public access to life jackets in a community with a strong boating culture.


Since 2008, the Sea Tow Foundation has distributed over 100,000 life jackets to local businesses and organizations across the country. The over 1,300 life jacket loaner stations currently in operation are placed in locations where boaters and swimmers will have easy access to the life jackets, such as boat ramps, marinas, and parks.
