Sail Camp Is A Tradition For Young Locals

The upcoming Sail Camp at the Wind and Water Learning Center in Orange Beach, AL, is set to open registration on March 1st, 2024, at 9 AM. This camp offers a diverse program for different age groups, including Sandpipers, Pelicans, Ospreys, and High School students, scheduled across June and July. 


The camp aims to introduce sailing in a safe and fun environment, emphasizing water safety and good sportsmanship. Participants will learn sailing basics through activities like sailing games, knot tying, and practical sailing skills.

The Wind and Water Learning Center in Orange Beach is offering week-long summer sail camps for kids of all ages!

Here's what you need to know:

  • Dates: Camps run from the first full week of June to the first full week of August.


  • Cost: $175/week for residents, $200/week for non-residents.


  • Age groups:
  • Sandpipers (6-8 years old = rising 1st–3rd graders)
  • Pelicans (9–11 years old= rising 4th–6th graders)
  • Ospreys (12–14 years old= rising 7th–9th graders)
  • Ospreys (12–14 years old= rising 7th–9th graders)

  • Times:
  • Sandpipers: 9am-12pm
  • Pelicans & Ospreys: 9am-12pm or 1:30pm-4:30pm (depending on age)
  • High School Sail Week: 1:30pm-4:30pm

  • What you'll learn:
  • Basic sailing skills like capsize recovery, steering, and sail trim
  • Fun sailing games and activities
  • Knot tying
  • Water safety and sportsmanship

  • Important things to know:
  • All campers must be able to swim without fear of the water.
  • Register online starting March 1st at 8am on ActiveNet.
  • Be prepared to provide information about your child's allergies, swimming ability, etc.

      9am-12pm Sandpipers
