Free concerts coming to Gulf Shores

The Gulf Shores municipality has unveiled its musical roster for the 2023 Sunset Series. These complimentary concerts are scheduled to occur at the Town Green at Gulf Place, located at 101 Gulf Shores Pkwy. The performances will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring live music set against the backdrop of the area's pristine white-sand beaches at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring along family, friends, and seating for these all-ages events.


Dates and performers for the 2023 Sunset Series are as follows:


• September 7: Flow Tribe

Originating from New Orleans, Flow Tribe delivers a robust blend of musical styles, described as "backbone cracking music." The ensemble of six experienced musicians has previously performed alongside artists such as Trombone Shorty, Juvenile, and Bill Summers. Known for their extensive touring, the band frequents major venues and festivals nationwide.


• September 14: The Powell Brothers

Over the last seven years, the Powell Brothers have averaged 150 live shows annually, spanning 25 states. The band has a strong affinity for sports, having performed at pregame events for organizations like the Houston Astros, Chicago White Sox, Dallas Cowboys, NHL Draft, LSU Tigers, and Las Vegas Bowl. They have also performed the National Anthem at various sports venues.


• September 21: Devon Worley Band

The Devon Worley Band (DWB) is acclaimed for their electrifying live performances at country music festivals in the U.S. and the U.K. The band's setlist features original compositions penned by the lead vocalist, her three fellow musicians, and occasionally, her mother and manager.


• September 28: Frank Brown Songwriters Showcase

This showcase serves as a precursor to the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival. The evening will commence with a performance by Sugarcane Jane, followed by Even Stevens & Mike Loudermilk.


Grant Brown, the Director of Recreation & Cultural Affairs for the City of Gulf Shores, stated that the municipality has invested considerable resources into enhancing Gulf Place Public Beach as a serene and attractive location. The Sunset Series aims to complement this natural beauty with complimentary entertainment.


The concerts are open to the public at no charge. Food trucks will be available for those interested in purchasing meals, and the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will offer beverages for sale.
