Gulf Coast's Fourth of July Holiday Bursting with Festivities

Celebrate the Fourth of July with a splash of red, white, and blue on the Alabama Gulf Coast. From beachfront entertainment to local resorts, there are myriad ways to enjoy the Independence Day holiday. Participate in festivities such as the Miss Firecracker bikini contest at Flora-Bama, indulge in smoked meats and summer desserts at Perdido Beach Resort, or groove to the tunes at LuLu's at Homeport Marina. Don't forget the fireworks shows at various locations, including The Wharf, Gulf State Park Pier, and OWA Parks and Resort. Other attractions include family-friendly activities, live music performances, and a host of sporting events like the 8th Annual Shark Run. There's something for everyone in this festive holiday weekend on the Gulf Coast.


CITY OF GULF SHORES

The annual fireworks show will go off on the Gulf State Park Pier at 9 p.m. on July 4 with views all up and down the beach.

 

FLORA-BAMA

The Flora-Bama will have festivities all weekend including its Miss Firecracker bikini contest on July 1 at 3 p.m. and a four-mile Freedom run at 8 a.m. On the actual date, the Fourth of July, the Bama will shoot fireworks from that beach around 9 p.m. See related story.

 

HANGOUT

This beachfront entertainment complex will have music from 6-10 p.m. both July 3 and July 4 with a DJ spinning tunes from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. both nights as well. On July 3, the Six Piece Suits will kick off at 6 p.m. and DJ Zewmob takes over from there. July 4 Blackberry Breeze will start at 6 p.m. followed by DJ JRock. The city of Gulf Shores will have its fireworks show from the State Park Pier at 9 p.m. on July 4.

 

PERDIDO BEACH RESORT 

The beachfront resort will have its annual Independence Day celebration on July 1 beginning a 5 p.m. and the evening will include music, fun, food, and fireworks.

 

The main course offers a variety of smoked meats like spare ribs, Boston butts, chicken quarters, and beef brisket. A selection of sides including mac & cheese, bacon baked beans, and smoked asparagus. For dessert, guests can indulge in a range of treats from assorted cookies and brownies to banana pudding and a summer berry trifle. See related story.

 

LULU’S AT HOMEPORT MARINA

In addition to Lucy Buffett’s down-home vittles, LuLu’s will have music starting Saturday through the Fourth of July on the outside stage. On Saturday, July 1, the Cordial Brothers; will kick it around from 1-4 p.m. followed by Cadillac Attack from 5-9 p.m. On July 2, Wes Loper will kick things off from 1-4 p.m. followed by Disco Lemonade from 5-9 p.m. On July 3, the Kolb Sisters are up first from 1-4 p.m. followed by Josh Newcom from 5-9 p.m. The Fourth of July will have Jesse Duncan on the inside stage from 3-7 p.m. to allow time for folks who want to head to the public beach to catch the 9 p.m. fireworks show.

 

THE WHARF

On July 3, The Wharf will have its Independence Day street party. There will be family-friendly activities in the Entertainment District including a bubble truck, bounce houses, mechanical shark, face painting ($10), camel rides ($10), Pirate Revenge ride, rock wall, stilt walker, Reptile Bus, DJ Matt spinning dancing tunes, special appearances by Lady Liberty, Uncle Sam and more. It all starts at 5 p.m. and the evening will end with fireworks at 9 p.m. followed by the Spectra light show.

 

If you’re looking to get in a little workout on the Fourth, sign up here for the 8th Annual Shark Run on July 4 at 7 a.m. This race includes a 5K run, a competitive walk and a 1-mile fun run, beginning at 7 a.m. All participants will receive a finishers' medal, and awards are given to top racers in each age category.

 

OWA PARKS AND RESORT

Celebrate at OWA and enjoy delicious red, white, and blueberry treats, get your caricature drawn, and let the kids make their own firework crafts. Experience a bubble truck party, and groove to live music performances. Plus, don't miss a Dive In Movie (Tropic Falls General Admission Required for the Dive In Movie) featuring The Parent Trap (1998) at Big Water Bay inside Tropic Falls. The festivities culminate with a spectacular firework show on Saturday, July 1 at 8:50 p.m. that is synchronized to patriotic music. THE BEACH CLUB - FORT MORGAN

Spectrum Resorts guests staying at The Beach Club Resort and Spa will have access to plenty of patriotic-themed events that the entire family can enjoy, so pack your red, white, and blue!

TURQUOISE PLACE - ORANGE BEACH

Turquoise Place guests will have a packed weekend of activities available to celebrate Independence Day. The annual Freedom & Fireworks J4 Celebration is not one to miss! From sno-cones, laser tag, balloon animals and a rock-climbing wall to face painting, a foam party at the main pool, and making red, white, and blue tie-dye t-shirts, kids of all ages will have a blast!

The Annual Fort Morgan Oyster Fest is set to take place this weekend, February 22nd & 23rd at The Beach Club Resort & Spa. The event features all-you-can-eat oysters, live music, craft vendors, and various activities for attendees; including a larger kids area. This year's festival features several improvements, including daily ticket caps to control crowds and prevent long lines.

After 15 years of dedicated service, Gulf Shores Police Chief Ed Delmore has announced his retirement. Mayor Robert Craft informed the city council of Chief Delmore’s intent during a meeting this week. While he will no longer be heading the police department, Chief Delmore will stay on the force as a special investigator until the end of his term, which ends in November.

Alabama's 14th annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is set for Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 23, 2025. During this period, residents can purchase essential severe weather preparedness items without paying the state's 4% sales tax. In some areas, local taxes will also be waived, allowing shoppers to save up to 10% on eligible items.
