The Elberta German Sausage Festival is set to take place one month from today, on Saturday, October 26th from 8am to 5pm at Elberta Town Park. This biannual event is a beloved tradition, dating back to 1978, and is hosted by the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department as the primary fundraiser to support the department.
One of the festival’s main attractions is its famous German sausage, a secret recipe credited to Alfred Stucki, who managed Elberta's Locker Plant in the mid-20th century. Around 6,000 pounds of sausage are sold at each festival, drawing in about 20,000 visitors. In addition to the sausage, attendees can enjoy various other German-inspired dishes, such as filled cabbage, potato salad, goulash, and red beans and rice. For those seeking more traditional festival fare, there will also be hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ, and sweet treats like ice cream and baked goods.
Entertainment will include live music ranging from polka to country, as well as carnival rides for children. The event will feature over 200 arts and crafts booths, offering plenty of opportunities to shop for handmade goods.
Admission is free, and proceeds from food and booth sales go toward supporting the Elberta Fire Department.
