2025 Election Season has officially started for local politicians

Gulf Shores Election News

Local politicians can officially start asking for your vote and financial support. With just one year remaining until voters head to the polls to choose mayors and council members in cities and towns across the state. The elections, including those in Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, are scheduled for August 26, 2025.

In 2021, the Alabama Legislature extended the terms for municipal offices by one year so that elections would not be held the same year as presidential or state elections.

Mayors and council members can now officially announce their candidacy and seek financial funding, if needed. It is anticipated that most will wait until after this year's national elections to go public.

Do you know which polling location you should visit? There have been a few changes in Baldwin County but you can visit HERE to confirm the address.

Are you new to the area or moved recently? It is easy to register in Alabama. You can start the online process HERE.

Starting this past Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, candidates for municipal offices can begin raising and spending money for election campaigns.

Some other dates on the election calendar include:

May 28, 2025, is the last day that a person can become a resident of the municipality or a district in order to become a candidate for office.

June 10, 2025, is the date that candidates can begin qualifying at city hall once notice is published.

June 24, 2025, is the last day to qualify to run for municipal office.

If a runoff election is needed for any office, that election will be held on Sept. 23, 2025.
