The Hangout said THANKS with a $20,000 check to the Meeting of the Minds Foundation!
The party continues for the rest of the week but local residents are ecstatic that the Meeting of the Minds and PHiP Parrot Heads from around the country chose Gulf Shores for their party. This annual event is a natural since Jimmy Buffett had deep ties to the area and the original Margaritaville was located in the heart of Gulf Shores. Lucy Buffett is one of the host and welcomes the troprock fans each year.
Parrot Heads and local residents just have a kindred spirit about the meaning of life. Of all the events that occur in the Gulf Shores area this just makes the most sense. The locals enjoy the crowds and welcome them like they are family.
We should also give a big THANKS to Hangout Hospitality, LuLu's and Flora-Bama for hosting numerous live events and welcoming our new family members to the island.
Most of all everyone should thank the event organizers! It is not easy to move such a big event and the logistics for staging, performers and PHiP members services seems monumental. Not to mention the talent of each musician in this year's line-up.
MOTM is still rockin' and you can view their schedule of events HERE. There have been performances across the island including Burro Azul, Picnic Beach, Coastal Restaurant, Icehouse Taproom, The Gulf and the Baldwin Community Theater. There are still many events ongoing at The Hangout, LuLu's and Flora-Bama.
If you are not a Parrot Head you can join a chapter or help support them by paying admission to an event.
MOTM is the annual PHiP convention held annually during the end of October and beginning of November. While previously hosted in New Orleans and Key West, the new home of MOTM is Gulf Shores, Alabama.
We say THANK YOU and "Fins Up" to everyone involved with the Meeting of the Minds.
