Nov. 1st & 2nd is the homecoming airshow

Gulf Shores Event News

The Blue Angels are an historic part of the Gulf Coast history. This year National Navy Day kicks of the week of festivities for the Blue Angels homecoming show.

The U.S. Navy was established on October 13, 1775, by the Continental Congress. The Navy's creation helped protect the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. Over the centuries, the Navy has grown into one of the world's strongest maritime forces.

Local along the Alabama coast have long celebrated the Navy's Blue Angels Flight Team. Often the Blues will provide a fly-over of the beach as they return home from an airshow. The term "Beach Buzz" is bantered on social media as locals gather at the shoreline for a glimpse.

This year's homecoming show will have a special feature. The U.S. Airforce Thunderbirds will be joining in the fun. The event is already one of the largest beach events of the year but with the combination of two flight teams it will certainly be one for the record books.

All visitors to NAS Pensacola must present a valid/current photo identification issued by the United States government or a state government as part of the screening process. This excludes minors under the age of 18, if accompanied by an adult with valid identification. Foreign nationals visitors must provide valid photo identification, such as a passport, issued by their country of origin. Foreign national visitors are advised to expect an additional screening process and to plan accordingly. Navy Security personnel reserve the right to deny access to any person on a case by case basis without explanation.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Gates open at 8:00 AM. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own seating, OR paid seating is available for purchase.

This year they are celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the Lunar Landing. Many of the Apollo astronauts were Nay and Marine pilots.

"Not self, but country" is inscribed above the chapel doors of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The residents of our shores are thankful for their service and look forward to such a great event!
