In a wave of excitement, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab reopened the doors of the Alabama Aquarium this morning Monday, following a significant renovation period. The aquarium, a cherished attraction since its initial unveiling in March 1998, welcomed visitors once again with a refreshed look and an enhanced visitor experience.

The renovations have breathed new life into the aquarium, with improvements aimed at providing a more immersive and educational journey for guests. The connection between visitors and the research conducted by the DISL faculty and students has been strengthened, offering a deeper dive into the mysteries of our ocean and its diverse inhabitants.

Dr. John Valentine, the Executive Director of DISL, shared his enthusiasm about the reopening. "Our unwavering goal is to inspire visitors to care for and protect the ocean and its creatures," he said. "We are confident that the enhancements made during the renovation will significantly contribute to achieving this mission."

The aquarium is now open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online or at the door, with advance booking recommended for a seamless visit.
