The big one for St. Patrick’s day on the Alabama Gulf Coast is the 40th annual Papa Rocco’s St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl but there are a variety of ways to celebrate the happiest day on the Emerald Isle.
Bill McGinnes will start things off from the self-styled home of “warm beer and lousy pizza” at 9:30 a.m. and bagpipers will head up State Route 59 for the first stop on the pub crawl at Mudbugs. It will then visit the Steamer, De Soto’s Seafood Kitchen, The Hangout, Pink Pony Pub, Gulf Island Grille and end up at Mikee’s Seafood about 2 p.m.
But there are other options including an all-out party at O’Chopper’s Almost Irish Pub in the Commons shopping area in Orange Beach.
The hot bar will be hopping at both the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores stores with traditional Irish food including corned beef and cabbage.
FLORA-BAMA LOUNGE AND OYSTER BAR
What else do you need on St. Paddy’s Day besides green bushwackers? All Flora-Bama properties will be serving up the creamy goodness on March 17.
Orange Beach’s local butcher shop will have USDA Certified Angus Brand Prime Beef Briskets brining. Call to claim your corned beef now at $7.99 per pound point end and $9.99 per pound flat end. Yum!
This iconic island eatery will have corned beef and cabbage served with Irish boxtys or potato pancakes. Brittany Bell will be providing the tunes.
The Daq Bar is planning ye olde Leprechaun Toss and Soiree for St. Paddy’s Day with Saucy Fuzz kicking off the music at 3 p.m. and Funk House Fever taking the stage at 8 p.m.
The fun starts at 9 a.m. at the Hangout when courtyard bars open for business. Moxie & The Hollers then hit the stage for music from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. For late-night fun Blackberry breeze will play from 7-11 p.m.
Crab Riot will provide the music starting at 6 p.m. and the Nom Nom food truck will be serving up good grub.
If you’re hungry by the time the pub crawl reaches De Soto’s then belly up for some corned beef and cabbage, sausage and new potatoes for lunch served from 11 a.m. till they run out for $11.50.
Get your corned beef and cabbage fix with Irish mashed potatoes with gravy and waterfront view at Oso. Live music will start at 6 p.m. with the Doc Johnson Band and there will be drink specials all day.
St. Pawtty’s Day starts at 1 p.m. on March 11 and everyone is invited to bring their furry friends. OWA Parks & Resort invites you to bring them along to enjoy the fun at our sixth annual St. Pawtty’s Day celebration. This is a family-friendly event featuring music, a dog kissing photo booth, pet parade, and costume contest located on the OWA Island. This year OWA is partnering with local animal rescue Angie’s Dog House and donating all proceeds from admission fees to the organization.
Papa Rocco’s pub crawl will make it’s first stop for green beer at Mudbugs on St. Patrick’s Day.
Corned beef and cabbage will be served accompanied by live music all day.
The beach road location will have Reuben roll appetizers, corned beef and cabbage and beer battered fish and chips. Sip on some green beer, Jameson and gingers, Irish breakfast shots and black and tans. OUR LADY OF THE GULF CATHOLIC CHURCH
