The Coastal Arts Center offers a dynamic space for local and visiting artists, featuring a fine art gallery, art classes, and the celebrated Hot Shop, where visitors can experience the unique craft of glassblowing. Now, Orange Beach has been recognized for its vibrant arts community and is currently in the running to be named the “Best Small-Town Art Scene” in the USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards. Selected by a panel of editors and journalists, Orange Beach stands among twenty distinguished small towns known for their thriving arts and cultural scenes.


Orange Beach is home to a flourishing arts community, including local galleries, artist collectives, and cultural events that draw visitors from near and far. The nomination acknowledges the town’s commitment to supporting the arts, enriching the community, and providing a destination where creativity thrives.

Voting is open now and will close on Monday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. (Central Time). Supporters can cast their vote once per day per device (computer, cell phone, tablet).


To vote, CLICK HERE to visit the official USA Today 10Best website and you’ll be taken right to the section on the page where you can vote for Orange Beach. Community members and local businesses are encouraged to share the news and rally support.


The winners will be announced on Wednesday, February 26. Additionally, two more voting categories featuring Alabama’s Beaches will be revealed soon. Details on these categories will be released as soon as they are officially announced.

As the City of Foley grows the expansion cost of services must follow. Foley is moving to buy several new vehicles, lights and other equipment for the police department if a resolution is passed at the next city council regular/work session on March 3. The council will meet at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.

The week kicks off on Monday, March 3rd, with "Moon Pies on Main" at The Wharf, a lively Lundi Gras parade featuring kids, pets, and dazzling floats. The family-friendly event is packed with activities, from pony rides to bouncy houses, and culminates in a night float parade at sunset.

The council has many items on this week's agenda that are associated with the new high school. Gulf Shores is looking to extend Volkert’s construction management contract for nine months on the new high school at a cost of about $470,000 to the project and Volkert is being paid a total of $4.8 million.
